Thursday morning IHC (Interstate Highway Construction), the builders of the 90 Bridge closed the 2 southbound lanes to begin another of numerous fixes. The photo below shows the shoddy work that is being fixed at both ends of the bridge. These 2 spots can be identified by the thump that we feel entering and exiting both ends of the bridge.

The northbound 2 lanes have been divided into one northbound and one southbound lane and, the workers really hope that drivers slowdown and watch for them. As explained in my last article

This photo shows the strip of concrete which expands the full width of the bridge that is being cut out and which covers the Bridge Joint and which is supposed to seal out water, especially the salt water of winter salting from infiltrating down to what is called the "Bridge Joint" which saparates the bridge road surface from the land based road surface so the the bridge can shake, rattle and roll without destroying the interface between the bridge surface roadway and the fixed land based roadway. See below for the photo of the Preformed Foam Bridge Joint being installed that this concrete strip is supposed to protect but doesn't. See my aricle beow for a more in-depth explanation.

Next the badly finished bridge roadway surface will be washed to remove salt then sealed probably with an acrylic vinyl sealer but we still don;t have the independent structural engineer report as to whether the north half of the bridge will need to be torn out and redone properly.
