Concerned that the old Red Barn would be the next blight and hearing the rumors that the deal was off to build a Denny's in its place coupled with the Town Building Inspector not hearing anything since issuing a demolition permit and building permit in early April I started calling all players in this multi-level project.

Most of the players, and there are a lot of them, either wouldn't return calls, wouldn't talk or didn't know. Finally reaching my contact at the developers he confirmed that the project is very much alive and demolition would likely begin sometime in August.

Wouldn't it be sensible for the contractor eliminating the Ft. Bayard hospital to move on to the Red Barn upon completion?

Sensible is not necessarily how all this works. The developer has their own group of contractors and I was told that the one coming here is just finishing a build in Tennessee.

Because of new regulations since the Red Barn was built Denny's will need more water and will install a large (10 inch?) line under Silver Heights/180 East) just like its neighbor CVS had to do.
