Grant County has proposed a comprehensive rewrite of its animal ordinance, voted on a "Notice of Intent" (NOI) on July 14 and will bring it up for final vote on August 18 during the Commission's regular 9:00 am meeting. The ordinance entitled: 2016 GRANT COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL ORDINANCE replaces Ordinance, No. 2002-01, The proposed ordinance can be downloaded at the end of this article, and cannot be found on the County's website, note the title "ACO_6.27.16.pdf" so you can locate the download.
Like all modern animal control ordinances it covers things like tethering, caging and spay/neuter and a host of permits including a litter permit in the attempt to control cat hoarding and the proliferation of feral cats. Like all ordinances this too may need some fine tuning of questionable statements like this one:
"Section 2-2 Authority of County Manager
The County Manager or his/her designated agent shall have the power to issue reasonable rules and regulations to carry out the intent and purpose of this ordinance."
