To Sell or Not to sell is the question. On June 2, 2017 Grant County Staff offered an RFP looking for an individual or business to evaluate compile options for Gila Regional Medical Center. June 27 the proposal period was closed and the submittals were opened and evaluated of which 3 passed to a soon to be chosen evaluation committee then 1 sent to GC Board of Commissioners for final approval for hire.

In response to ongoing issues and possible further destruction of the health care system the County, as owners of GRMC wants to seriously investigate their options and are willing to pay for an advisor who convinces them that they have the expertise to make those evaluations and propose solid recommendations.

The County wants to "... develop an enhanced understanding of GRMC's business, medical and market circumstance and the range of options, involving ownership change and no ownership change, which might be available." The feasibility of a lease of the facilities is not specifically listed in the RFP.

It is unclear who instigated this process and a call to Commissioner Browne informed me that he had not heard of the RFP but found a copy and sent it to me. A follow-up call a week later, he said that the committee that evaluates the 3 submitters will be composed of County staffers and he did mention that he had told Commissioner Kasten and the County Manager that I was asking questions. I did not poll the other Commissioners as to if they had been in-the-loop.

Will this mean they might close?

Let us hope GRMC Doesn't go this way and we lose docotrs AND CARE

if Indigent Illegal aliens using ER rooms with no insurance for birthing babies or arriving with Wounds from Gang shoot outs or drug violations.. then the wealthy oil country of Mexico calls?

While I'm sure that some here hold the same racist views as you building walls of blame never solved a country's problems. Regardless of what your fear fantasies lead you to believe this is not happening, not the reason for GRMC issues. Best you teardown the walls in your mind and get on with real life that results in harmony both within and without.
